Red Carpet Fashion | Brit Awards 2019 First Aid Kit

Maxi dresses are huge for spring 2019. Maxi dresses that seem they could be worn in the day and through into the night. I love First Aid Kit for doing the trend justice. Minimal attention to hair and jewellery and the platform trainers are a nice touch.

Catwalk | Duro Olowu

Duro is such a delight. Every season with baited breath I devour every detail of his collections; the obvious, the nuances etc.

For fall 2019 his woman is strong, bold, chic, cosmopolitan and proud to be African. 60s shaped shifts and coats married Inspiration from Miriam Makeba. The headpieces, the dresses, the mood, the fabric, all recalled the legend and activist Makeba was. I've eyes on the Velvet pants on the left. This collection just gives me pure joy. The patchworked fabrics, the color palette, the platforms, all joyful.

Style Look | Lisa Folawiyo & Graft and Glamour

When a duo are so stylish that it is ridiculously good. It is the jeans on both of them. The outerwear on graft and glamour on the right, her fish nets and heels. It is the ease of their pose. It is it all. Ridiculously good.

Interview | The Style Thesaurus

Every so often someone in the blog/personal styling game makes you stop and think. Marta of The Style Thesaurus is just wonderful. With a modelesque body, a palette rich in color and unapologetic fierceness, you can't help but fall in love in with her feed.

Read on for an interview with the style maven...

Hello Marta.

Thank you for agreeing to this interview. I'm a big fan of your instagram page. The feed is beautiful.

1. Your instagram is like a breath of fresh air; colorful, bold and energetic. What inspired you to start it?

I have always been inspired by Fashion, I have always loved it since I can remember. I know I was good at it and I didn't want to look back someday and think "wow, I wish I created more fashion content" its more of a personal achievement for me, something I thoroughly enjoy investing my time on.

2. You tend to wear bolts of color, why so?

I am a very visual person, I like films and photos. I am not much of a reader, my eyes get more drawn to colours more than anything else. I believe that the boldness plays a huge part on my personality, its who I am really. I wouldn't say I am a loud person but I can definitely say that I am a bold person.

3. Your poses look very professional, have you a modeling background?
Yes I did modelling a while ago but I have never attended any modelling classes, I suppose it's all just in me. I think the fact that I'm tall and slim makes it look more professional but really there isn't a team behind me.
4. What inspires your outfits? - people, the African culture and Music. I love music! Any music really.

5. Why the name The Style Thesaurus? What brought that about?

To be honest I didn't have to think much of my page. I just wanted to create something where people could find reference to any type of style. Like a dictionary of style I suppose.

6. Who are your style icons?

So many really starting from my fellow Instagram colleagues to celebrity style icon. But I really like Tracee Ellis Ross style at the moment. She's hella fierce!

7. What is style to you?

Style is my identity.

8. Where can you see your instagram page going in 2019?

uhmm I'm not sure, I wish I could predict the future but I hope to build more long lasting relationships with people within the industry.

9. Your photography is wonderful, are you taking the photos yourself?

Yes.

10. Tell me about yourself, where are you originally from?

Born in Angola which is a Portuguese speaking country but since I was in Kindergarten until the age of 14  I attended a French school having all my classes in French. I was extremely lucky to have had that experience but at the same time that caused a slight identity crisis. When I was a child, I did not play with Angolan kids, I played with kids who spoke French because of the school I attended and when you are a kid, you spend most time in school you know. So I struggled to identify myself as an Angolan most times.

11. What fashion instagram pages are you inspired by right now.

Tracee Ellis Ross, I love Who What Wear and The Haute Pursuit.

12. If you could finish the sentence. Fashion is.... An artistic expression.

Makeup Bag | CYO Triple Date Brow 3 in 1

Why buy three separate products when you can all three in one. This means brow business with a highlighter to shape brow definition, a gel to keep hairs in place and a pencil to fill in brow. Wanting no needing this in my makeup bag. A total steal at £6.50. Buy it here.

Beauty Look | Amanda Stenberg

Endlessly inspired by Amandla's braids. It is the palette, it is the choppy length, it is the nonchalance with which she wears them. Can anyone braid my hair like this please? Any takers, anyone? Join me on twitter and instagram at @marian_kwei .

Style Look | Tamu Macpherson

A look at spring 2019 catwalks and one thing is clear, Utilarian chic is in. Cargo pants are not quite as they used to be. This time there's an ease about them. This time they are tailored beautifully. I couldn't help but think of that trend as I saw this picture of the always dressed well Tamu. It is the coat. It is just wonderful.
