Founded by Phyllis Sasu and Claribel Osei, 2 Vain Girls is a self care line and movement that has one goal in mind: to create a brand that enables women to put themselves first, mirroring the lives of the founders and that of countless women they believe search for the same.

Leading multifaceted lives as wives, mothers and entrepreneurs, Phyllis and Claribel are always on the search for clothes that are daring, stylish and fun, yet fit into their busy schedules. However this is just one part of the story. The brand is built on a concept of self care, one that encourages women to love themselves and prioritise their wellbeing.

This is where the concept of 2 Vain Girls comes in: a brand that empowers women to fully live out their fashion fantasies without sacrificing comfort, quality, effortless self-expression over the mundane in a very modern manner while prioritising self love.

2 Vain Girls seeks for women to know that it is not selfish to put oneself first. This is a stylish line that believes in self care, this is a line that promotes self love.

The brand launches this week. Be a Vain Girl, join the movement here. Their Instagram handles are @2vaingirls and @vaingirlmovement.

Trend | Midi Skirts

Midi skirts are the must have piece. They can be an unflattering cut but styled right they have an elegance about them that is hard to match. Their cut is timeless and season after season we see them come back into fashion. Invest in a midi skirt to suit you. For the bold try a print or bolt of color. If unsure stick to hues such as black, grey or champagne. For the petite pair with a heel as the length of the midi can shorten legs. Take inspiration from the image above. Isn’t the utilitarian look refreshing? I’m inspired that the humble midi skirt can inspire in more ways than one.

My Style | Leather

There is nothing like a pair of leather pants or in this case, a pair of faux leather pants. Here I threw in a bowtie for good measure. The jacket with a wide belt over it just made sense. Missing these boots.

Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty range had me at hello. The packaging, the design, the whole approach. Don't fail to add the bad ass hues and colours available. I wouldn’t mind trying ‘Uncensored' lip paint. Perfect for adding a bit of glamour to your day. Shop it here.

Some things look better in profile. I love a good profile shot. In this one my vintage hat and blouse add a retro feel to proceedings. There is an 80s vibe about it. I’m happy with it.

Hot off the catwalk is satin. Brandon Maxwell, Versace and other designers showed collections filled with satin. It was grunge at the latter and elegant at the former. Look on the high street for catwalk inspired satin designs.

Style Tip | Hero Piece

processed_IMG_20190821_133619.jpg

Every one needs a hero jewellery piece. Mine was thrifted from a charity shop. The oversize gems, the hue, the cut, it all comes together to create a special piece which acts as the focal piece of my jewellery. A focal piece of my outfit. Always add a hero piece to your outfit. Let it be the focus of your outfit. More is more.

It is in the colour, it is in the cut, it is in the feel. The 70s are my go to decade for inspiration style wise. I like how the palette of this outfit sets the tone for the 70s inspiration of this outfit. Shot by Phill Taylor for Grazia magazine, the vintage Yves Saint Laurent coat adds a mannish feel to the look. What decades are inspiring you style wise?

Inspiration for the day is this beautiful image. It is the suppleness of her skin, the floral headpiece, the lip color, the redness of the sequins. Be inspired to wear a floral headpiece or try a sequin piece, it could even be an accessory. Be inspired.
